Indo Trans Vacation · Banyuwangi
A 4x4 jeep and a local guide take you from Banyuwangi into Baluran National Park, across the Bekol savanna and down to Bama beach. It's the best use of the free afternoon after your Ijen night: no climbing, and a completely different side of East Java.

Baluran sits on the northeast tip of Java, about 75 minutes from Banyuwangi by road. A jeep picks you up at your hotel in town, and the day runs in three parts: a little over two hours driving through the park with the guide, an hour at Bama beach with its mangrove boardwalk, monkeys and birds, and an hour on the Bekol savanna, open grassland under the old Baluran volcano where banteng, deer and peacocks graze. The whole trip takes about seven hours.
There are two packages. The group option puts you in a jeep with other guests and leaves the park entry to you, paid at the gate: 205,000 rupiah for foreigners. The private option is all inclusive. Both include the driver, a local guide who knows the park, snacks, water and a fresh coconut.
Time it for the afternoon after Ijen. Most night hikes drop you back in Banyuwangi by about 09:00 to 10:00, and the safari ends at the coast for sunset. A guest who went late in the day saw herds and water buffalo coming out of the mud. The dry season gives the clearest views and the easiest wildlife spotting. No volcano, no gas, no blue fire: just a gentle, cheap day out. Pair it with the all-inclusive Ijen hike.

Yes, that's how most people use it. Ijen tours return to Banyuwangi by about 09:00 to 10:00, which leaves the afternoon and sunset free.
Banteng, deer and peacocks on the savanna, and monkeys and birds around Bama beach. Wildlife is never certain, and the dry season is best.
